After upcycling an old dresser drawer into a decorative raised bed garden, Marisa from Ewa Beach gave being808 a demonstration on plant placement. She decided to place three types of plants in her 3-inch bed of moisture-guard soil. She suggests starting from back to front and giving each plant type its own row.
For the purpose of aesthetics and to provide shade, Marisa suggests placing taller and larger plants towards the back and smaller ones in front. Also something to keep in mind is the spacing between plants. It should be based on the estimated plant growth and always be evenly spaced.
For those with a few garden boxes and for gardeners starting with seeds, labeling each plant’s location is important. In the next box gardening tip, Marisa will demonstrate how to turn old spoons into garden markers.
